About Us
Lucy Ames - Founder
Lucy grew up in a small village near the coast in East Yorkshire. After leaving home to study business at De Montfort university she then moved to West Sussex where she spent 20 years in IT followed by 10 years selling her paintings. An unconventional career path!
In 2014, with two small children, Lucy and her husband moved from West Sussex to Tunbridge Wells in Kent and Lucy closed her art business. Answering a cry for help from a former art client who had just bought an estate agency franchise, she moved into freelance marketing and found she loved the creative thinking it required to do it well and stand out from the competition.
After more freelance social media work - at organisations large and small - Lucy founded Smartist in 2020.

Lucy is supported in her business by two talented ladies.
WIth a passion for fashion, Ellie joined Smartist having had social media experience at brands Lipsy and River Island. She is a fashion stylist to the stars (ask her who when you meet her) but when not out on exciting styling jobs, she works on Smartist posts. We're lucky to have her! Ellie takes on all accounts with a dedication to understanding what is unique about each business and showcasing it. The visuals she creates are as stylish as you would expect.
Imogen has also been an asset to the team with a knowledge of Instagram gained from running her own successful small business. Imogen brings creative thinking and order to all the campaigns she works on as well as a sense of playfulness.
